April has just begun and many important days have passed already! This month starts every year with a laugh: the first day of April is known as April Fool’s Day, an occasion to organise tricks and laugh a lot, but only if you are not touchy!

Days to remember

During this month, there are many important days to remember; beginning with the 2 April, which is the World Autism Awareness Day, an occasion to make people aware about this disorder, which is still misunderstood in many cases nowadays.

On the 22 April there is Earth Day, an occasion to remember the importance of our environment and make people aware of the crucial themes for our planet, such as waste sorting and the reduction of plastic use in our everyday activities.

In Italy, everyone knows about 25 April as it is a national holiday. On this day the Liberation is celebrated. This is the day when, in 1945, the insurrection in every area occupied by Nazi fascists was proclaimed. A few days later Italy was freed. On this day, a 4 kilometres-long walk is organised every year. It starts in Barga and finishes in Sommocolonia, a town heavily attacked by the Germans during the Wintergewitter Operation. This attack took place during the Christmas holidays of 1944. You can find all the information about this walk here.

This year, Easter will be on Sunday 17 April. The day after, Easter Monday, a big event with games, snacks and the chance to take part in a hike organised by the MasterFit gym will be organised in Tiglio, near Barga. To find out more about it, click here.

These are the events of this month. We hope that Spring and the sunny weather will arrive very soon!
